Is Customization Available? - At this time we are not offering modification to these pieces.
Assembly Required? - No. Our handmade products are cut, milled, crafted & finished complete by Canadian craftsman. *Exceptions for shipping purposes may be made for some items (toy chest lids, table legs).
Expectations - Rustic furniture may still have sawdust from manufacturing and require a final wipe down. Since all products are made from real wood, no two pieces will be absolutely alike. Product is handmade evolving from raw material grown in our forests, and you will notice natural detail such as knots, grain patterns, fastener detail, and tooling marks unique to your own handcrafted furniture piece. Exact colour matching using our standard finishes with existing pieces in your home is also discouraged, as 100% matching is impossible. If an exact match is desired, it is recommended an unfinished piece is purchased and finished as required.
*You Are Purchasing Real Wood: The entire line is real wood. Wood is a natural product that will be affected by the elements: Moist climates will make wood swell, drier climates will make it shrink, and because of this movement over the life of the product, some cracks, splits and warping can be expected. These small imperfections should be embraced as part of the truth and beauty of real wood furniture.
Examples of the "Rustic" furniture
Caring for your furniture - As all furniture supplied is made from solid wood, it's natural to develop small cracks, splits or warps caused by shrinking and / or expanding. These are not defects but rather a natural behavior of the pine as it becomes acclimatized to its environment. Due to contrasting moisture levels in the air, wood will evolve differently in different regions of the country. Small imperfections also accentuate the uniqueness of your individual handmade furniture piece. If you wish touch up small imperfections yourself, try the Trade Secret® Touch-Up System for Wood (www.tradesecret.ca). It offers all of the tools necessary to repair scratches, gouges and restore colour.
